IIt appears that the release of Special Advocate Robert Mueller's report on Thursday went better than President Trump and his lawyers had hoped.
A counter report to refute parts of Mueller's report has been in the works for months, but Trump's lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, announced on Thursday that he would wait before publishing it.
"Right now, we like the way the discussion is going," Giuliani told CNN Thursday night.
Mueller's report was released on Thursday morning and showed that Trump had not conspired with Russia in the 2016 presidential election, and although he did not determine whether he obstructed justice, he calls it total exemption.
Giuliani said the counter report was pretty much ready, but said Mueller's report already contained so much information that Trump and his team will probably wait before publishing it.
"It's done, and the question is, when is it published? You are inundated with so much material and frankly, the discussion seems pretty clear, "said Giuliani. "We will turn it off. We'll publish it maybe – probably not after the weekend. "
Giuliani said the counter report is composed of two sections and will probably be about 45 pages long.
While on CNN, Giuliani also argued his findings about Mueller's findings and, while there is no determination about the obstruction, he thinks Trump is clear.
"He did not commit a crime. I believe that he has done nothing wrong. "
"The whole question of connivance with the Russians, both for him, for his campaign, for anyone in his campaign, even to divulge information, to conspire or to cooperate, is completely false," said Giuliani.
Last month, Attorney General William Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein dispelled Trump's allegations of collusion and obstruction in a four-page letter to Congress.
