Earlier in the day, anyone trying to find or play Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on Steam had a strange surprise: the game was missing. Left instantly.

It quickly returned, but for a little while one of the greatest video games on the planet had just come out and gone. Its store page featured an “OOPS, SORRY!” message, and its number of simultaneous players crossed the floor.

As SteamDB’s Pavel Djundik noted, Counter strike wasn’t the only game affected, with a handful of other titles dropping out as well.

While Valve tells Kotaku the disappearance was “just a hiccup on the backend”, let’s not dismiss the fact Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has been working every day since 2012 without interruption. Maybe it just took a morning off, savoring a cup of tea, reading a magazine, collecting thoughts for a while.
