A Pennsylvania couple is charged with stealing after making a $ 120,000 shopping trip to their bank account, according to a report.
Robert Williams and his wife, Tiffany Williams, appeared in court Tuesday after spending two and a half weeks covering the bulk of their accidental gains on expenses such as cars, bills and a camper, a reported the WNEP television channel.
Robert, 36, and his 35-year-old wife have been brought to justice for theft and concealment of stolen property.
State police said the BB & T Bank deposited the dough on the couple's account on May 31, following a clerical error by a bank teller.
But on June 19, they had already spent six digits buying an SUV, two four-wheeled vehicles and a trailer.
They also reportedly used money for bills, car repairs, cash purchases, as well as $ 15,000 for friends, reported WNEP.
On June 20, the bank contacted Tiffany about the error – and to inform him that the money had been withdrawn from the account, generating a $ 107,414 overdraft royalty, reported the Williamsport Sun-Gazette.
She told the bank that she "would talk to her husband and try to build a repayment agreement," police said.
But when the couple became black on the bank, the authorities were contacted to recover the stolen money.
Robert confessed to the investigators at the end of July that he and his wife knew that "the lost money did not belong to them, but they spent it anyway," the newspaper reported.
