A married couple who live on the Hawaiian island of Kaua’i recently flew home from San Francisco after they both tested positive for COVID-19, and they were quickly arrested and charged with endangering other passengers on the plane.
The couple, identified as Wesley Moribe and Courtney Peterson of Wailua, Hawaii, both 46, were arrested on landing at Lihue Airport on Sunday, November 29. SFGate reports that they tested positive at the airport, during mandatory pre-travel screening at SFO. They did it anyway, but they weren’t captured until after landing hours later.
Local station KHON reported that they were arrested for reckless endangerment, and the charges said they put other plane passengers in “danger of death.”
The couple were also traveling with a four-year-old, who was reportedly sent to a family member’s home by child protection services.
Both were held on $ 1,000 bond and released on bail.
