The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Sunday arrested Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, and two others in connection with the seizure of banned drugs aboard a cruise ship off the coast of the Mumbai coast and reserved them under NDPS.
A Mumbai court has placed Aryan Khan and two others in pretrial detention until October 4.
Aryan Khan, Munmun Dhamecha and Arbaaz Merchant were brought before a Metropolitan Magistrates’ Court for pre-trial detention.
Aryan Khan was convicted under Articles 27 (punishment for the consumption of any narcotic or psychotropic substance), 8C (producing, manufacturing, possessing, selling or buying drugs) and other relevant provisions of the Narcotic Control Act and psychotropic substances (NDPS).
Lawyer Satish Maneshinde is said to represent Aryan Khan in court.
He and seven others were arrested late Saturday night by BCN detectives after raiding the cruise ship en route from Mumbai to Goa.
According to the BCN arrest note, 13 grams of cocaine, five grams of MD, 21 grams of charas and 22 ecstasy pills and Rs 1.33 lakh were seized after the raid.
Based on reports that a party was planned on the ship, an NCB team, led by its area manager Sameer Wankhede, raided the Cordelia cruise ship bound for Goa on Saturday evening and recovered drugs. on some of the passengers, an NCB official. noted.
“During the operation, the suspects were searched and various drugs were recovered from them, which they had hidden in their clothes, underwear and handbags (by women),” said the BCN official. .
Early this morning, the BCN interviewed detainees in its office here, he said.
Besides Aryan Khan, Munmun Dhamecha and Arbaz Merchant, others are identified as Nupur Sarika, Ismeet Singh, Mohak Jaswal, Vikrant Chhoker and Gomit Chopra, NCB said.
Meanwhile, the cruise line said in a statement Sunday that it had nothing to do with the incident.
“Cordelia Cruises is in no way, directly or indirectly, linked to this incident. Cordelia Cruises had chartered her vessel for a private event from a Delhi-based event management company, ”said Jurgen Bailom, CEO and Chairman of Waterways Leisure Tourism Pvt Ltd in the statement.
He said Cordelia Cruises is extending its full support and cooperating with the authorities. —PTI
