Court to hear Alex Jones' appeal in Sandy Hook case

Alex Jones lawyer told a Connecticut court that the conspiracy theorist should not have been punished for an outburst of anger on his Infowars show against a lawyer of relatives of some of the victims of elementary school Sandy Hook.

Attorney Norman Pattis told the Connecticut Supreme Court on Thursday that Jones had exercised his right to freedom of speech. The judges did not rule immediately.

In June, a lower court judge barred Jones from filing a motion to dismiss the Sandy Hook family's lawsuits as a punishment for the offense against his lawyer and for failing to hand over documents to their lawyers.

The families are suing Jones, Infowars and others for defamation for claiming that the shooting at a school in 2012, which killed 20 children and six educators, was a hoax.
