An employee working at a recycling center in the Hudson Valley has tested positive and anyone who brought materials there may have been exposed, health officials warn.
Dutchess County Behavior and Community Health Department Commissioner Anil Vaidian issued an alert on Tuesday, December 1, warning that an employee at the Rhinebeck town transfer station on Stone Church Road has been tested positive for the virus.
Vaidian said anyone bringing equipment to the transfer station on Saturday, November 28, should be alert for symptoms and request tests if symptoms start to develop.
“The DBCH Rapid Response Team has worked with the Town of Rhinebeck to ensure they are following all recommended health and safety guidelines and protocols, and the Town has already performed a thorough cleaning and disinfection of the transfer station, ”officials said. “Contact tracing is underway with people confirmed to have had direct contact with the person.”
Symptoms of COVID-19 include:
- Fever;
- Cough;
- Shortness of breath;
- Difficulty in breathing;
- Tired;
- Muscle or body pain;
- Headache;
- New loss of taste or smell;
- Sore throat;
- Congestion;
- Runny nose;
- Nausea or vomiting;
- Diarrhea.
Vaidian added, “We appreciate the cooperation of Supervisor Elizabeth Spinzia and staff at the Town of Rhinebeck in promptly alerting DBCH of this confirmed positive case so that we can educate the public about potential exposure.”
