The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) has updated previously released guidelines for Thanksgiving during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Unfortunately, the COVID-19 epidemic is worsening and small household gatherings are a major contributor to the increase in COVID-19 cases,” the agency said in a statement released on Monday, November 9. are fun but can increase the chances of getting or spreading COVID-19 or the flu. “
The CDC says that “the safest way to celebrate Thanksgiving this year is with the people in your household.”
“If you are with friends or family outside of your home, you should wear a properly fitted mask, keep a distance of six feet from people who do not live with you, and keep your hands clean.”
The CDC also described seven factors that contribute to the risk of contracting and spreading COVID during small in-person gatherings:
- Community levels of COVID-19
- Exhibition during the trip
- Meeting place
- Duration of the gathering
- Number and crowd of people at the rally
- Behaviors of participants before the gathering
- Behaviors of participants during the gathering
