Humboldt County Joint Information Center press release:

Two Humboldt County residents have died from COVID-19 and an additional 132 cases have been reported since Friday. Two previously reported cases have been removed, so the total number of county residents who have tested positive for the virus is now 2,624.

One of the deceased was 70 and the other 90. Humboldt County public health staff offered condolences to the friends and family of these individuals.

The California Department of Public Health today announced that the ‘regional stay-at-home order’ will be lifted statewide and all counties will again have to follow COVID-safety measures. 19 as described in the “Plan for a safer economy”. The state’s “Limited Stay Home Order” has also ended.

The announcement has little impact locally, as the “regional stay-at-home order” has never been applied to the northern California region. Humboldt County remains in the “purple” or widespread level. For more information on the “blueprint”, go to covid19.ca.gov/stay-home-except-for-essential-needs.

This week, Public Health and other approved local vaccinators expect to receive a total of 1,875 doses of COVID-19 vaccine – 600 first doses of Moderna, 300 seconds of Moderna and 975 first doses of Pfizer.

Public Health continues to schedule mass vaccination clinics for phase 1A health workers. Two of the three clinics scheduled for this week will focus on health workers who have not yet received their first dose, and the third will be for health workers who are ready for their second dose. Appointments with health workers are by invitation only.

Providers authorized to administer the vaccine will contact their patients over 75 years of age directly as vaccine for this phase becomes available. Those without a provider or whose doctor is not a licensed vaccinator can complete the new online vaccine interest form to be notified when appointments are available for their priority group. To access the form, visit humboldtgov.org/InterestForm.
