Humboldt County Joint Information Center press release:

A total of 2,652 residents of Humboldt County have tested positive for COVID-19, after 28 new cases were reported today.

Humboldt County Public Health Investigation Teams are monitoring 194 chains of transmission and several small outbreaks across the county, largely linked to indoor rallies. Local health officials say cases have been reported in various settings, including workplaces and places of worship. Gatherings indoors are strongly discouraged by the state, and county residents are urged to follow all COVID-19 safety measures until the vaccine supply allows for distribution to scale from the community.

Public Health continues to vaccinate health workers in phase 1A, with 320 appointments scheduled today and tomorrow. Many of those who receive vaccines are Home Support Services (IHSS) and other caregivers who provide direct support to the elderly and dependent adults. On Monday, more than 500 emergency service personnel were invited to make an appointment for phase 1B level 1. As vaccinations for health workers are underway, public health and providers Local health care providers will expand the appointments to other groups in Phase 1B level 1, including educators, as doses become available.

All county residents who wish to receive the COVID-19 vaccine can submit their contact details through an online interest form and be notified when an appointment is available for their priority group. The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) today announced that Humboldt County remains in the “purple” or widespread level under the “Plan for a Safer Economy,” with an adjusted case rate of 24, 3 and a positivity rate of 6.8%.

The CDPH is also expected to announce a new plan to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine statewide. More information on local impacts will be published as it becomes available.
