Covid Delta variant spreads to Hawaii despite vaccinations and mask warrants

Hawaii has one of the most comprehensive mask mandates in the country and a very successful vaccination campaign. Despite this, the cases of Covid-19 on the islands are increasing with a ferocity that surpasses all other US states.

Hawaii recorded 655 new cases on Thursday, the highest since the start of the pandemic. Test positivity rates peaked in a year at 6.9%, according to the state health department.
