COVID Notes: 3/8/21 – MLB Trade Rumors

The latest news on COVID-19 and Major League Baseball:

  • The Astros have placed Pedro Baez on the injured list, by a team announcement. The move frees up space on the 40-player roster for Jake odorizzi, whose signature has been formalized. Although the club did not give a reason for Báez’s placement in IL, he is almost certainly linked to COVID-19. The veteran reliever was one of eight Houston pitchers to quit the team last weekend under league health and safety protocols. It is not clear if Báez was one of the players who tested positive for the coronavirus; players can also be placed on COVID IL to show symptoms or for exposure.
