Cowboys cancel practice in response to staff medical emergency

The Cowboys canceled training on Tuesday in response to what is considered a very serious medical situation involving a member of the team’s staff.

The identity of staff is not disclosed at this time out of respect for the sensitivity and potential seriousness of the matter. The club issued a press release on Tuesday in which it announced the cancellation, adding that the medical reason was unrelated to COVID-19.

A spokesperson for Frisco Police said paramedics responded to The Star at 7:30 a.m. and no foul play was suspected. The emergency does not directly involve Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who made an appearance on local radio about an hour after the paramedics arrived.

Coach Mike McCarthy was previously scheduled to speak to reporters at 10:30 a.m. He won’t.

The players were scheduled to meet with the media in the afternoon. This was also canceled.

Dallas is on a short week, scheduled to play the Washington soccer team Thursday at AT&T Stadium.
