Cowboys, Dak Prescott speaks well?

We heard yesterday that Dak prescott and the Cowboys had resumed negotiations on a long-term extension with the March 9 deadline for franchise labels. Dallas fans will be happy to know that it looks like these negotiations are going well.

The talks “are progressing” and have been “more productive than they have been” in the previous months, according to sources in Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News. Obviously, if they can’t agree on a deal, the Cowboys will tag Prescott and then they’ll have until July to come up with something, but word has been recently that Jerry jones is hoping to wrap up something faster than that to give the squad some clarity going into free agency.

Interestingly, Watkins also sheds a little more light on the second surgery Prescott had in December. This procedure was apparently aimed at “cleaning up previous problems with his right ankle” and was unrelated to the devastating fracture he suffered in the same ankle in week 5.

Watkins notes that team officials say it was just “to strengthen the ankle” and not about a setback or a new injury. Plus, he writes that Prescott should be ready for training camp in July. In yesterday’s report, we heard that Prescott is not looking to Patrick mahomes, but is probably looking for something in the order of $ 40 million a year.

Mahomes’ new deal gave him $ 45 million a year, and Deshaun Watson got around $ 39 million on its extension. Either way, it looks like things are finally moving in the right direction after a long stalemate.
