Cowboys sign contracts with 7 of 8 preliminary selections

The repechage selections used to be more dramatic. Now it has become more of a formality – at least with most of the choices.

The Cowboys were able to sign seven of the eight picks on Friday, including second-round Trysten Hill and attacking midfielder Tony Pollard, who was the first to sign his contract Friday morning before the first try.

After that, Hill and the fifth, Joe Jackson and Mike Jackson, as well as Donovan Wilson, security chief for the sixth round, and the seventh round picks, Mike Weber and Jalen Jelks, were all able to sign the line dotted on their four-year contracts.

The Cowboys – and most NFL teams – expected the class to fall behind. The third-round pick, Connor McGovern, has not yet signed, and probably will not be, for a while, as the teams try to understand the offbeat language in the last few years of the contract. That's the same reason why Maliek Collins (2016), Jourdan Lewis (2017) and Michael Gallup (2018) all took longer than the rest of the class to sign their agreements.

Last year, Gallup did not wait too long, marking the start of his day on May 21st.
