Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, the latest entry in Activision’s long line of platforms, hits PC on March 26.

As indicated by the “ 4 ” in the title, It’s About Time is a direct continuation of Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped from 1998 – a game that got a magnificent remake as a third of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy from 2017. – and takes a lot of inspiration from the platforming action brand of the first series.

There are wrinkles in the formula, of course, including masks that slow down time, reverse gravity, and phase objects in and out of existence, as well as various new modes and playable characters – each with their own. own unique abilities and stages – but this should all be immediately familiar to Crash fans. It’s About Time even builds on the brutal difficulty of early games – although a choice between Modern and Retro modes helps alleviate the sometimes overwhelming challenge.

Crash Bandicoot 4 – New Platforms Trailer.

“Yes, the studio may have taken the notorious difficulty of the originals a bit too literally,” wrote Eurogamer’s Chris Tapsell in his review, “but he also paid attention to the rest of these games … the originals, but also surprisingly coming closer to the idea you have of it. An imperfect jewel, but no less brilliant. “

If an explosion of nostalgic platforming with a modern twist is anything to go by, Crash Bandicoot 4 will be available on PC – exclusively through Activision’s Battle.net service – on March 26. And if you’re curious about other platforms, Digital Foundry recently took a look at the new Switch and PS5 versions of the game.
