Crestview, Fl. (WTVY) – A Crestview man faces several charges after lighting firecrackers and throwing them under the bed of a sleeping child.

According to officials, 44-year-old Matthew Morrison is now facing three counts: burglary, cruelty to children without significant harm and possession of a controlled substance. The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office said the landlord told them that Morrison was living in a tent outside and had entered the house without permission. Morrison then threw a series of lit firecrackers under a bed where a nine-year-old was sleeping soundly. Morrison was then chased from the house with a stick. The little girl told the deputies that she had woken up to the sound of fireworks that had erupted in her room and scared her, crying and shaking. When the OCSO deputies arrested Morrison, they found about two grams of methamphetamine in his pants pocket.
