CLAIRE WATER COUNTY, Wisconsin (WEAU) – A large brush fire in Eau Claire forced residents of a mobile park in Eau Claire to be evacuated from their homes on Friday night.

Eau Claire Fire and Rescue Chief Matt Gunderson said crews were called to the Terrace Hill mobile home park before 5 p.m. and the high winds made it difficult to control the fire.

About 70 houses in the neighborhood were evacuated and a city bus was brought in for temporary shelter. At 7 p.m., all residents were allowed to return home and asked to shelter in place due to the heavy smoke.

Crews are expected to be on site throughout the evening.

Eau Claire Fire & Rescue continues to investigate the causes of the fire.

No injuries were reported.
