Bungie has gone deep today on the future of Destiny 2, delivering a heartfelt video presentation in which franchise leaders Luke Smith and Mark Noseworthy spoke about their vision without Activision: Destiny 2 which is continuously updated and playable pretty much everywhere.

Smith and Noseworthy stated that one of their goals was to integrate the "MMO" aspects of the Destiny 2, reinforcing the social aspects of the game and focusing more on RPG statistics. Another of their goals is to make the game look more like a "one-time world", while the third is "play it anywhere."

Reading between the lines, one has the impression that Destiny 3 will not come, but we will interview Bungie about this in the near future.

Here are the news:

  • September 17th, we'll see the next Destiny 2 expansion, Shadow guard, which is located on the Moon and offers the return of the wizard of the favorite space (lol), Eris Morn.
  • This one is "completely autonomous" – no need to buy Abandoned or any other part of the game to access it. Same thing with future seasons.
  • The game will undergo big changes along with this version: it will be backed up crosswise on PC, Xbox and Google Stadia (as we announced yesterday) and the PC version will go from Battle.net to Steam. It also happens on PS4! (This was a last-minute decision.)
  • More exclusive content! Sony will no longer be able to pay to deprive non-PS4 destiny card players, weapons and strikes.
  • The basic version of Destiny 2 and all the content of the first year (Curse of Osiris, Warmind) will be available for free with a new title: Destiny 2: new light.
