New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez traded blows on Twitter with Republican Senator from Texas Ted Cruz on Thursday over the growing immigration crisis on the southern border of the United States.

In response to a series of tweets from Ocasio-Cortez on the division of the Democratic Party in the face of migrant children crossing the border illegally, Cruz condemned the surge in arrivals of undocumented migrants.

CRUZ, AOC EXCHANGE ON THE “ NAZI ” CHARGES

Ocasio-Cortez “explains the real Dem position: abolish ICE. Borders completely open. [Biden border crisis] worse yet, ”the Texas Republican wrote.

“She says nothing else is working. Really? Last year we had the lowest illegal immigration IN 45 YEARS. This year we have the highest in 20 years,” he added.

Ocasio-Cortez hit back, recapping the senator’s decision to leave his home state in February, amid one of Texas’ biggest crises in years.

“Ted, it’s pretty rich coming from someone who fled his own home (and responsibilities) during an environmental crisis to cross the border and take refuge in Mexico,” she replied in a tweet Thursday. “You have also funded cages, enlarged cages, and yet you complain about cages. You don’t have a policy, just eat.

“Maybe Mexico shouldn’t leave you the next time you try to run away from your job to sip umbrella drinks in Cancun,” she continued before adding, “A reminder that your resignation is in. 84 days late. At least. “

AOC REBUFFS TED CRUZ TWITTER OVERTURE: ‘YOU ALMOST KILLED ME’

Thursday’s rant is just the latest Twitter exchange between the two big political wigs.

Ocasio-Cortez and Cruz have been tweeting passionately since early January, after the New York Democrat accused the Texan of inciting the violent Jan.6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. The attack resulted in the deaths of five people, and videos showing pro-Trump supporters searching for officials such as President Nancy Pelosi and Ocasio-Cortez have been posted on social media.

Cruz called Ocasio-Cortez a “liar” for her assertions, and the New York Democrat in turn rejected all appeals for comradeship, telling the Texas Republican that he nearly had her “murdered”.

“Happy to work with almost every other GOP that isn’t trying to get me killed,” she said in a January tweet. “In the meantime, if you want to help, you can resign.”
