Forty GOP Senators wrote a letter to Biden on March 3, urging the administration to impose more sanctions, saying that “the administration’s inability to identify and impose new sanctions indicates its willingness to allow President Putin to take control of supplies in gas from Europe and increase its geopolitical influence.

Cruz pressured other Biden candidates over the pipeline. Most recently, the Texas senator confronted Wendy Sherman, Biden’s candidate for Assistant Secretary of State, during his confirmation hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Thursday.
