Hugh Hefner’s widow Crystal Hefner has revealed that she almost died undergoing cosmetic surgery.
“I had fat transfer surgery on Oct. 16 and was almost unsuccessful,” Crystal, 34, wrote on her Instagram on Wednesday. “I lost half the blood in my body and ended up in the hospital needing a blood transfusion. Since then, I have eaten slowly to regain my health and I finally feel good. “
The former Playboy Playmate explained that she got very sick years ago from her implants, so she removed anything toxic from her body to get healthy. However, she said she didn’t learn her lesson and gave in to the pressure that society puts on women to look a certain way.
“Our culture is a trap and makes women feel bad about themselves. Movies (84.9% directed by men) make it worse, ”she writes. “Social networks make things worse. Ads make matters worse. Physically fake people make things worse (I was one of them).
“The way our culture defines beauty makes it impossible to keep pace. Women are too sexualized. I know the worst experience. “
Crystal said that for years she valued herself based on how she looked.
“I was rewarded and made my living based on my outward appearance,” she said. “To this day, I need to write reminders about why I am fit that has nothing to do with my physical appearance to convince myself that I am enough. “
She also expressed concern for the next generation who “will be turning to people whose looks aren’t even achievable without a lot of filters, makeup or money.”
“Women have to stop eating it,” she says. “It’s a huge slap on my own wrist to give in to that pressure, even now in my thirties – because I thought I would have learned my lesson by now.
Crystal and Hugh married in 2010 and stayed together until his death in 2017. He was 91 years old.
She has since moved on with spacecraft engineer Nathan Levi.
