Cub Swanson finds a better balance

"Just the fact that it's someone who's not going to lie and pray about me," said Swanson. "(Burgos is) someone who wants to throw down."

A performance bonus, however, is not Swanson's main priority. The long-time UFC veterinarian has had three consecutive losses and has not been in the Octagon since last August – an unconditional dismissal for UFC fans is not used to seeing Swanson.

Although every defeat occurred against a Top 5 fighter, Swanson felt it was important to take time and put things back in order. He wanted to correct some of the ways he was training and getting ready. He also became a father of twins last September.
