Gooding Jr. voluntarily returned to the NYPD for an interrogation Thursday.

His lawyer, Mark Heller, said at a press conference that his client had shown great cooperation with the police and that he hoped to be fully exonerated.

Heller said Gooding Jr. will plead not guilty.

"In almost 50 years of law practice, I have never seen a case like this, because there is not a panoply of criminal culpability that can be attributed to Mr. Cuba Gooding Jr. after I spent a lot of time with my staff, watched the nearly two-hour video, which reflects the entire event for which we are here today, "Heller told reporters. "Mr. Gooding has not acted inappropriately, in any form.In the video, nothing could even be considered ambiguous and, frankly, I am shocked and horrified that this case is the object of prosecution. "

New York police met the Oscar winner after a 29-year-old woman filed a police report claiming that Gooding Jr. had caught her chest at the Magic Hour Rooftop lounge in Manhattan, Sunday.

The actor denied the claims.

The woman involved in the alleged incident told the police that she was with friends when she was confronted with a branded client that she described as Gooding Jr., according to a police source who reportedly spoke to CNN on Wednesday.

"The male would have groped her breasts," said the source. "The victim later told police that she had protested unwanted touching and that they had discussed the meeting."

The woman left the bar and called 911 to report the alleged incident, according to the police source, and the NYPD's Special Victims Brigade in Manhattan was investigating.

In 2012, Gooding Jr. was faced with similar problems when a bartender from New Orleans accused him of pushing her. The bartender woman, whose name is unknown, told the police that Gooding Jr. had stopped near the old wormwood house in the French Quarter and was quickly angry at anyone. other customers who had recognized him and wanted to take pictures with him.

The bartender told the police that she had asked Gooding Jr. to calm down, after which he apparently would have repulsed her. Another employee called 911 and asked Gooding Jr. to leave and, when he left, he again pushed the bartender, police said.

The bartender finally gave up the charges.

Melanie Schuman and Rob Frehse of CNN contributed to this report.
