Cuba Gooding Jr. was formally charged on Thursday for misdemeanor, for being accused of forcibly fumbling after the alleged presence of a woman in a Manhattan bar last Sunday.
He pleaded not guilty to the Manhattan Criminal Court.
The Oscar winner's attorney, Mark Jay Heller, said his client had done nothing wrong.
"It's a no-brainer," Heller said Thursday. "This is clearly a case of overzealous policing and on the basis of the video, there will be a total exemption here."
Earlier this week, an unknown woman told the police that Gooding, 51, had caught her breast in a New York City club.
"After talking to various witnesses and watching the video, I was hopeful the prosecutor would look into this case and investigate it a lot more than what apparently had been done," Heller said in an interview with ABC. News.
Heller accused the woman of harassing Gooding.
"When I watched the video and spoke to real eyewitnesses, it was very clear and obvious that the lady who had falsely accused was spinning Mr. Gooding," he said. he said about the party at the club. "She followed him all over the club, invaded his private life and showed himself very persistent in his dealings with him."
The new charge is not the first time that the star of "People vs. O.J. Simpson" is accused of touching a woman inappropriately.
In 2012, a group of women claimed that he had patted them in a New Mexico bar, but Gooding told TMZ that the allegations were "b ——-". No charges have ever been filed in this case.
The same year, he was also charged with pushing a bartender woman to New Orleans and a warrant for arrest was issued against him. The bartender subsequently dropped all charges, according to information provided by CNN.
