BERLIN (Sputnik) – The German NGO for the Nature Conservancy and Biodiversity (NABU) has failed in its attempt to paralyze the construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline in territorial waters.
The Federal Constitutional Court of Germany rejected a complaint by NABU and its regional badociation Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania against the Supreme Administrative Court of Stralsund, considering that the applicants could not demonstrate in their argument that the said body had violated the provisions of the Basic Law.
Earlier, the Stralsund court had rejected NABU's complaint against the regional mining department, which had approved the construction of Nord Stream 2 in territorial waters.

The Nord Stream 2 project envisages the construction of two gas pipelines 55,000 million cubic meters per year from the Russian coast to Germany across the Baltic Sea.
