Barahona .- The Catholic University of Technology of Barahona (Ucateba) will remember the life, the ministry, the work and the social struggle actions of the late father Avelino Fernández, with Reason for the seven years of his death to be accomplished the next day 25.
For this purpose, a Mbad will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Chapel of the Divine Master of the Ucateba, located at Villa Central Barahona
Avelino Fernández was born in Candelaria, Cuba, on August 3, 1934 and made his vows as Brother De La Salle, a religious order that he served for many years and in which he has distinguished himself for his service in the region of education. He was also Secretary General of the Latin American Conference of Religious (CLAR).
On September 8, 1982, he was received as a priest, by the laying on of hands and the consecration of the prayer of Bishop Fabio Mamerto Rivas, first bishop of Barahona
Avelino. already incardinated in the diocese, he accomplished a long and fruitful ministry in favor of the most dispossessed clbad of the Dominican Republic, especially in the region of Enriquillo, parish priest of several parishes, among which Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia de Pedernales ; Santa Ana, from Enriquillo; and Our Lady of Fatima, in the municipality of La Ciénaga, where she worked with children, youth and adults.
