Cuba finished in eleventh place in the medal table of the World Youth Athletics Championships, which took place in Tampere, a city located in southern Finland.

The delegation of the island added a gold medal, another silver and three bronze. The last positive result came Sunday, when the triple Davisleidy Velasco got the third place, with 13.78 meters. The test was won by Bulgarian Aleksandra Nacheva (14,18).

However, we can not ignore the fourth place of Isis Guerra, in the women's high jump, to equal her personal best. The title went to Kenya's Taranda, Belarus (1.92), while Sommer Lecky (Ireland) and Maria Fernanda Murillo (Colombia), both with 1.90, respectively finished silver and bronze.

The delegation of the largest of the Antilles was at the head of the talented tripletist Jordan Diaz. The habanero and king of 17 year old cadets last year, set a record for the event (17.15 m).

Díaz will be one of the Cuban representatives at the Games of Central America and the Caribbean in Barranquilla. Despite his young age, Jordan is the favorite of the race, which is supported by the 17.41 that he has in the current sports season.

The rest of the prizes went to the long jump Maykel Vidal (silver), Yaritza Martínez (bronze) to the hammer throw and Silinda Morales (bronze) to the women's record.
