He is musical director of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and since 2015, talented young musicians from the Middle East are studying at the Barenboim-Said Academy of Berlin, another initiative founded by Daniel Barenboim, who received numerous awards and published several books.
With a history dating back to 1570, the Staatskapelle Berlin is one of the oldest orchestras in the world and constitutes a fundamental element of the Berlin State Opera, as it is in most of the functions of the ballet and opera of this institution. Master Daniel Barenboim was appointed General Music Director of the Staatskapelle in 1992.
