There is no shortage of corn in El Salvador, so any price changes are not the result of shortages, but the speculative practices of traders, said today the president Consumer Advocacy, Ricardo Salazar.

Salazar warned that after the inspections that were conducted all over the country found that traders have chosen to increase the price of the product for no reason. It is already thoroughly studied to punish speculators.

Corn quintal in some places is above $ 30 when its value was estimated at $ 15 to $ 16.

Salazar commented that there is a reserve and the government will import 35,000 tons corn metrics to supply the market.

The official said that there is price stability in products such as rice, beans and sorghum.
