  Reactivate urea production with 2,000 tons per day

The president of Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB), Óscar Barriga, reported yesterday that will reactivate urea production in the United States. Bulo Bulo plant, with volumes between 1,500 and 2,000 tonnes per day.

Barriga said that in 3 or 4 days, the Bulo Bulo plant will produce urea in the specifications, ie in the volumes mentioned in the first paragraph of this press release.

The executive said that the plant is currently in the adjustments for the production of urea, but the ammonia plant is being processed.

Despite this, Barriga pointed out that urea has never ceased to be commercialized because there are warehouses inside the factory there are others in Montero and another 40,000 tons in Puerto Quijarro.

The logistics of marketing and shipping followed the normal pace. YPFB exports mainly urea to Brazil, since there is an annual contract of 335,000 tons.

In addition, the fertilizer is exported to Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay by barges in the Paraguay-Paraná waterway.

According to information from the Chamber of Exporters, Logistics and Investment Promotion of Santa Cruz (Cadex), exports in the non-traditional sector, where Urea is located, increased by 23%.

For now YPFB has an annual urea delivery commitment of the order of 450,000 to 500,000 tons, accounting for 80% of total urea production.
