The European Commission on Wednesday imposed a record fine of five billion euros on the American technology company Google for abuse of position on the Internet.

This instance of the European Union considers that the search engine has used Android to cement the domain of its search engine, and threatened to apply more penalties if it does not change its behavior in the 90 days.

In a statement, the European Commissioner for Competition called this action illegal, according to the antitrust rule of the regional bloc.

Of the three types of illegal practices, the European Commission mentioned that Google requires manufacturers to install their search engine in order to access their application store. In addition, some vendors have been forced to install their browser exclusively and have limited opportunities for manufacturers who use their services to sell phones with alternative versions of Android.
