Panama EFE The number of deaths due to the influenza virus in Panama reached 36 this year, the last of which is an elderly adult (64 years) from the western province of Chiriquí, announced yesterday the Ministry of Health. According to reports from the Ministry of Health's epidemiological surveillance system, the influenza virus causes 36 deaths, including 35 indigenous victims and one imported. Health officials yesterday reiterated that prevention was the most effective barrier against influenza and urged vulnerable populations to be vaccinated at their nearest health center. Patients with respiratory problems (asthma), obstructive lung diseases, children under 5, pregnant women, over 60s and people with chronic diseases belong to the vulnerable population.
