Increase in remittances sent to Honduras in the first half

The revenue from this concept increased by 193.2 million, according to the central bank of this country of Central America.

A study developed by the financial institution reveals that 80% of these shipments come from the United States, where about 1.2 million Hondurans live, half of whom are undocumented.

Currently, remittances are the main source of foreign exchange in Honduras, above exports. coffee, textile production and shrimp, to the point of representing 18% of its gross domestic product with four thousand 330 million dollars at the end of 2017, according to official figures.

According to the Central American Monetary Council, Honduras is the third largest recipient country in the region, behind Guatemala and El Salvador.
