India announces a gradual change of electric vehicles

New Delhi, July 8 (Prensa Latina) Electric vehicles will account for about seven percent of auto sales in India by 2030, announced today in this capital.
The transition from the Southeast Asian nation to electric vehicles has to be gradual, said a government adviser, adding that the country may have diluted its ambitions of having a third of green transportation in the car fleet to this date.

Amitabh Kant, executive director of the National Institution for the Transformation of India (NITI Aayog) said in New Delhi that cheaper electric vehicles will increase their purchases even without the need for subsidies, according to the Business Standard portal.

The country's policy should be geared toward two- and three-wheeled electric transport, as well as public service, Kant said.

The government – he added the official – should also support the creation of infrastructure for energy charging points.

The state-owned Energy Efficiency Services Ltd., which is responsible for the acquisition of electric cars to replace gasoline and diesel vehicles used by government authorities will launch the first 10,000 electric vehicles in March 2019.

It is planned to deploy 500 cars in November and another group in June.
