The speed of the Internet connection has improved considerably over the last year, according to the interactive map published by Cable in the United Kingdom. The study, called Worldwide broadband speed league 2018 was conducted in collaboration with the Open Technology Institute of New America, Google Open Source Research and other technological research institutions.
The research studied a total of 200 countries worldwide, measuring their download speeds and finding an average for each of them. Then he placed them in a ranking, just according to their speed.
Worldwide, the average download speed has increased by 23%, from 7.40 Mbps in 2017 to 9.10 Mbps in 2018 and Argentina is no exception: it has gone from 159 in 2017 with an average download speed of 1.15 Mbps, at the 116th level this year, thanks to a significant improvement that brought things to 3.18 Mbps.
On the less positive side, we must say that we are still far from the average to which households around the world connect. In fact, in terms of connectivity, our average is well behind Cuba, an island where, although Internet access is far from mbadive, the average download speed is 5.83 Mbps.
Thus, downloading an HD movie of a weight of 5GB will take Argentina 3 hours, 34 minutes and 40 seconds; in Cuba, this time will be reduced to 1 hour, 57 minutes and 8 seconds.
Not to mention our comparison with the other extreme. Singapore is the country with the highest average speed in the world: 60.39 Mbps on average. In second place appears Sweden (46 Mbps) then Denmark (43.99 Mbps) and Norway with (40,12 Mbps). The United States is in 20th place, with an average speed of 25.86 Mbps
