Havana, July 10. The El Gran Zoo Library, named after the title of one of the most famous works of Nguyen Guillén of Camagüey, was inaugurated today in this capital, on the occasion of the 116th anniversary of the birth of the National Poet of Cuba
Miguel Barnet, president of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC), said that the opening of the bookstore, at the headquarters of this institution, coincides with the ephemerides of the lyricist, which he baderted that he will be an eternal youth, since he lived optimistically until his death on 17 July. 1989.
Barnet stated that the book sales unit, which occupies one of the halls at the entrance to the UNEAC, is the result of a large effort to make the titles of Cuban and universal literature more accessible to the public, both stories, as essays and novels.
He noted that the brand new center is named after the big zoo, for being one of the most beautiful of Guillén, and that he will gradually dispose of more modern equipment in view to provide a better service. .
The President of UNEAC expressed his satisfaction for what he considered a achievement, which pays tribute to the author of titles such as His Motivations, Sóngoro Cosongo, Elegía a Jesús Menéndez and The Pigeon of Vuelo Popular.
