In recent hours, new clashes have occurred between Eln and Epl in the Catatumbo area, specifically in the village of Agua Blanca and in the municipality of Las Juntas, Norte de Santander, near El Tarra and Hacarí, leaving a record of two people injured.

The affected people were taken to a nearby health center for medical treatment. The intervention of the Force Publique in the area has become necessary to safeguard the security of the inhabitants, who have already been struck by these clashes which have intensified during the last four months.

To this was added a volqueta carrying coal in the village of San Roque, municipality of Sardinata, was burned by men who posed as members of the Epl, who have forced the man to get off the vehicle to cremate, according to the authorities, extortion against the owners of mines that have not been paid.

Not only has this resulted in threats to social leaders and the community at large, but restrictions on mobility persist. Several are statements by human rights groups calling for an end to hostilities in the region.

After the announcement made by the ELN and the national government to quickly reach a partial cease-fire, the population expects this situation to be presented as soon as possible and the dialogues continue in the new government of Iván Duque.
