Santiago de Cuba graduated more than 900 medical science professionals

The University of Medical Sciences (UCM) of Santiago de Cuba celebrated its promotion number 51, dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the badault of the Moncada Barracks and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, where they got their titles in the 970 young people's medicine, stomatology, nursing and health technology races, 50 of which belong to eight Latin American and African countries.

At the graduation ceremony, held in the main hall of Heredia Theater of the City of Heroes, the figure of the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, and the martyrs of the hero were recalled. July 26, 1953, focusing on the only doctor of the Centennial generation, Dr. Mario Muñoz Monroy.

Exactly among the graduates on this occasion, the 72 belonging to the vanguard political movement of the medical university of the territory who bears the name of this revolutionary of great humanism, they deserved a special mention for their exemplary attitude, their outstanding qualities, their dedication and their results in the study.

Beside them, they also pointed out the 183 students the creditors of the gold title because with more effort, willpower, sacrifice and dedication to the study, they managed to finish their career with an academic index of 4.75 points. [19659003] There was also a moment to recognize the most outstanding graduates of the four faculties of this institution, as well as the university affiliates of Palma and Contramaestre; and of a total of 36, the following stands out: Dr. Lucía Turro Mesa, in the field of defense; Dr. Nereida Betancourt Figueras, in sport; Dr. Alicia Cedeño López, in culture; Dr. Gretchen Herrera Ogra, in teaching; Dr. Jorge Amet Ramis Bigñot, Best Assistant Student; Karina Sofía Domínguez González

The young Ecuadorian Julián Aristides de la Torre Francés was also the most integral avant-garde from abroad, and María Elena Mora Arias was appointed as student leader and avant-garde of the University of Medical Sciences.

Music, dance and drama, have not failed in this graduation by students who are fans of the art of this educational center, accompanied by the madrigalist choir and the Septeto Sones of Oriente.

The occasion was auspicious for 13 of these new health professionals to receive the hands of Dr. Silvia Reynoso Ortega, rector of this house of graduate studies the Prix du scientific merit, so that our country continues to build up a nation of men and women of science, as the Commander-in-Chief wished, who on one occasion expressed:

"For a revolution, the most sacred is the People's health is the life and well-being of citizens, because the Revolution is proud of what it has done for our compatriots and for the successes achieved in public health. "

More than 55 years of professionalism, ethics and commitment to health and life have helped to identify a superior medical education in this province; with this promotion corresponding to the 2017-2018 academic year, UCM Santiago reaches a total of 49,148 graduate students in its history, to continue to provide services both inside and outside Cuba.
