To reduce allergic asthma, scientists from the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) of Mexico City have developed customized vaccines based on pollen more frequent in the atmosphere of the Mexican capital.

These pollens affect the lung function of 10% of Mexico's populationmainly children and adolescents.

"We got these results from the frequency at which patients react to each antigen and the amount of antibodies produced for each one of them," said Reyes López.

Through techniques chromatography and immunochemistry, the researchers isolated the antigens and they identified pollen allergenic proteins, of those who have determined its size and the sequence of amino acids that compose them.

Dr. Reyes Lopez pointed out that vaccines developed in IPN would open up new treatment options for people with allergic asthma and felt that the first results of desensitization treatment will have them from here. the end of 2020.
