"El Moncada showed us
cam ino to walk
And from this high example
For us, it is still 26 "

With this beautiful verse made of the song, Carlos Puebla illustrated the meaning of that day for the story.
Today, we are called to remember our martyrs, our heroes, their commitment to them and to the people. We dedicate this moment of reaffirmation and oath to them.

They are our sacred dead, to whom we have sworn to defend the fatherland against any sacrifice, threat or aggression; to those of us who have vowed to defend the banner of the revolution that they won with Fidel at the helm.

With the Moncada, begins the last stage of the struggle of the Cuban people for their independence. Here he fought not only for the taking of a barracks, but also against an unfair social system.

Comrade Raúl would define the historical fact:

"… With this first bloodshed, the correct and fundamental method of struggle of our people would be initiated to destroy the scaffold in one way definitive of the economic, political and social system existing in our country. "

" Until we all had to imagine in those moments, that during the dawn of July 26, the beginning of the end of the Capitalism in Cuba had begun …! "

Here, Fidel's management was born from the homeland, which was able to develop a revolutionary program that would interpret the feelings and needs of the people. The Moncada has awakened the conscience and aroused the rebellion.

The santiagueros commit themselves to arrive at this date with results in all spheres. The atmosphere of joy is contagious with the movement of Santiago Arde, a working method used in municipalities and popular councils.

New works have been built and restored: bakeries, markets, creameries, shops, technical service centers, communications, sports, health, culture and many other facilities.

Meanwhile, major investments are being made, such as the port terminal, furniture factory, food and grain processing and sandpaper plant.

The construction and rehabilitation of the housing fund is progressing, the plan for the year will be filled with more than 5000 houses, which will benefit many families affected by atmospheric phenomena.

Food production is also advanced, although it is still insufficient.

Health shows superior indicators. New diagnostic equipment has been installed, improving the living conditions of patients and medical and paramedical personnel. The infant mortality rate in the province is now 2.7 per 1,000 live births.

We have not yet reached an adequate perception of the risks related to communicable diseases and the control of prevention and protection measures of the population is not exercised effectively.

In education, satisfactory results are obtained in general indicators that measure the quality of their processes.

These results were possible thanks to the collective effort, the capacity for resistance and victory, the sense of belonging, the consecration and the cohesion of the men and women of this city, under the direction principal of our direction. country.

For the Cuban people, luck is thrown. Neither Yankees nor traitors; neither subversive plans, nor mercenaries, nor forces in the service of the empire; neither hurricanes nor blockages will ever shake us.

This Revolution, girl of the ideas of Martí and fidelistas, does not surrender, does not sell itself!

We will be faithful to Fidel's exemplary legacy and to the example, courage and teachings of the beloved General Army Raúl Castro Ruz, whom Raúl knows, admires, respects and like a lot (Applause).

Eternal glory to the heroes and martyrs of the fatherland! (Exclamations from: "Glory!")

Long live Fidel and Raúl! (Exclamations of: "Vivan!")

Fatherland or death! We will win! (Applause.)
