A 27-year-old man has become an Indian to promote a cultural and tourist project in eastern Cuba that seeks to recreate, as a kind of open-air museum, the almost extinct traditions of the aboriginal population from the island.
Known as Cacique Mayarí, Fermín Olivero Bárcena gained notoriety among tourists and villagers for two years, when he built an Aboriginal village on top of a hill near the towns of Piedra Gorda and Seboruco.

The young man, drawn to the history of the region, began collecting rustic buildings and rare stones in his home, "which motivates or the visit of many people, even foreigners "and that's why he decided to recreate his own colony in a neighboring area, where she let her black hair grow and changed the usual clothes for loincloths and ornaments in feathers.

Fermín warns that never charges anything for his "attraction", "but some leave me money in solidarity". He explains, however, that does not reject donations because each time he can spend less time looking for his life in something else.
The young man takes visitors to caves, trails and a rustic viewpoint. a tree from where we can see the whole valley. In the nearby cave, he has hollow logs that he uses as drums to liven up his show.
