The required inspections were not performed on flights between the United States. and Cuba, according to the report

Congressional investigators claim that the Transportation Safety Agency (TSA) did not perform all required inspections of airlines operating flights between Cuba and the United States between 2012 and 2016.

The Office Government Accountability (GAO), in charge of the study reported that only half of the required inspections were performed on the five carriers that included the survey.

The study, according to the AP agency, was made at the request of several members of the Republican Congress.

According to the report, the TSA was not able to perform, in many cases, reliable tracking of charter operations in the United States. The Department of Homeland Security, however, ensures that the agency works on tools to improve monitoring.

Evaluations reported non-compliance in five categories: access control, quality control, aircraft and aircraft safety, pbadenger and baggage inspection, and fencing.
