Cuomo’s sexual harassment charges prompt Time’s Up to call for ‘independent investigation’

The sexual harassment charges against New York Governor Andrew Cuomo prompted the Time’s Up defense organization to call for an “independent investigation,” according to a statement released by its president.

Cuomo’s former assistant secretary and special advisor Lindsey Boylan published an essay on Wednesday in which she alleged a sexual misconduct by the politician, which her camp denied.

Now Time’s Up, an organization dedicated to addressing harassment, assault and discrimination against women in the workplace, has issued a statement in response.

“Allegations of inappropriate behavior in any workplace are deeply troubling and must be addressed,” said Tina Tchen, president and CEO of the organization. “We call on the Cuomo administration to immediately conduct a full and independent investigation into these allegations.”

The Board of Time’s Up is occupied by a number of celebrities, including Eva Longoria, Ashley Judd and Jurnee Smollett.

The stars have yet to speak publicly about the allegations against Cuomo. Fox News has reached out to its representatives for comment.

Meanwhile, actress-turned-activist Rose McGowan recently took to Fox News in support of Boylan.

ROSE MCGOWAN SUPPORTS ACCUSATOR CUOMO LINDSEY BOYLAN, CALLS FOR ‘MONSTROUS’ CLAIMS INVESTIGATION

“I fully support Lindsey Boylan. Her truth leaks out of every onscreen word she wrote,” McGowan told us. “She, none of us, should go through what she went through. If they do this to her, what are they doing to the voters? What is he going to do to what he thinks of as the little people? C ‘is monstrous. ”

In his article published Wednesday, Boylan detailed several specific instances in which Cuomo allegedly engaged in inappropriate behavior. She wrote that she “had complained to friends that the governor would do everything possible to touch my lower back, arms and legs.”

Cuomo reportedly encouraged Boylan to search for photos of his supposed former girlfriend, telling him that “[they] could be sisters. In another incident at Cuomo’s New York office, Boylan said, the governor kissed her on the lips.

“As we have said before, the allegations of inappropriate behavior by Ms. Boylan are simply false,” Cuomo’s press secretary Caitlin Girouard previously said in a statement.

In August 2019, Judd posted a celebratory message on Facebook, writing that Cuomo “had just signed part of Time’s Up #NYSafetyAgenda.”

The goal of the agenda was to “strengthen protections against sexual harassment in the workplace for millions of New Yorkers and ensure that people are able to hold harassers at work accountable. Glad to continue this this work in New York and beyond, ”the actress said at the time.
