Curt Schilling wants to vote in the 2022 Baseball Hall of Fame

Curt Schilling has had enough.

On Tuesday, the very outspoken MLB pitcher shared a letter he wrote to the Baseball Hall of Fame after failing to vote for a ninth consecutive year.

“I will not participate in the last year of voting,” he wrote in the post shared on Facebook. “I ask to be withdrawn from the ballot. I will defer to the Veterans Committee and to the men whose opinions really matter and who are able to judge a player.

The Hall of Fame board of directors said it will consider Schilling’s application.

Schilling, along with Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds, were the first three to get the vote in 2021, with none hitting the 75% mark on BBWAA ballots. Schilling was the closest with 71.1%.

“I don’t think I’m a Hall of Fame member like I’ve said many times,” he continued, “but if any former players think I am, I will accept it with honor.

The 54-year-old, who started five teams in a 20-year MLB career – winning World Series titles with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2001 and the Boston Red Sox in 2004 and 2007 – won 216 games with a career ERA of 3.46, racked. up to 3,116 strikeouts, a solid 15th all-time. The ballots were already due at the time of the attack.

In recent years, he has insulted the media, which he says has portrayed him unfairly.
