MIAMI (WSVN) – The co-owner of a popular restaurant in Miami’s MiMo neighborhood is fed up with speaking out after, he said, customers who were kicked out for refusing to wear face masks interior vandalized the property by breaking a waterline.

Brian Mullins, co-owner of Ms Cheezious on Biscayne Boulevard and 74th Street, said Saturday night’s incident stemmed from four potential diners refusing to wear face masks.

“When they weren’t allowed in they got upset,” Mullins said. “It was literally about wearing a mask to protect everyone.”

Mullins said restaurant service was denied to customers just before 7 p.m. At that point, he said, surveillance video captured what happened next.

“When they figured out if there was anything they could vandalize the property, they vandalized the property by breaking a waterline in the front, throwing water onto Biscayne Boulevard, temporarily shutting down the restaurant, ”he said.

Mullins said the vandals took off, letting water spurt onto the sidewalk and his business closed until the issue was resolved.

He now hopes the safety video will help track down those who were responsible and who may have endangered the safety of his employees and customers.

“I find it utterly disrespectful – to myself, the community, the general public – that there are individuals who still don’t want to wear a mask just to keep everyone safe,” Mullins said.

Ms Cheezious’ 10th birthday is next week and the owners have said they try to stay open.

If you recognize the vandals or have information on their whereabouts, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous and you may be eligible for a $ 1,000 reward.
