The CW is a Powerpuff Girl.

Chloe Bennet emerged from the besieged Powerful pilot, which is currently being redeveloped for series consideration.

Bennet played Blossom (center in the photo above) in the Network’s First Pass to rework the classic Cartoon Network animated series into a live-action show.

Dove Cameron and Yana Perrault are still attached to play Bubbles and Buttercup respectively.

An insider said that while making new deals for Powerpuff to expand actor availability for the new pilot cycle, Bennet did not sign his offer due to planning. The casting of the third Powerpuff girl will begin in the fall.

Also still attached are executive producers Heather Regnier and Diablo Cody.

Powerful has been in the works since 2020 and was under consideration for its debut in fall 2021. The CW has ruled that the draft is due for review in May.

“The reason we do pilots is that sometimes things fail,” CW chief executive officer Mark Pedowitz told reporters. “We believe in casting and [writers Diablo Cody and Heather Regnier] and [executive producer Greg Berlanti] and the Warner Bros. studio. In this case, the driver did not work. Because we see enough elements in there, we wanted to give it another chance. It may have seemed a bit too campy and not grounded in reality. You learn things when you test things. We thought, “Let’s take a step back and go back to the drawing board.” It’s a powerful property, it has generated a lot of interest and we want to do it right. “

Variety first reported the news.
