Cyberpunk 2077 leaks are starting to appear online.
If you’re hoping to get into Cyberpunk 2077 knowing as little as possible, watch out for spoilers as information about the long-awaited game is starting to appear online in significant amounts.
Earlier this week, U.S. retailer Best Buy accidentally began shipping copies of the game’s Collector’s Edition ahead of the December 10 release date. It’s unclear how many copies have already found their way into player hands, but with retail copies now seemingly out in the wild, information about the game has started to surface on social media.
Some of this information is relatively minor, relating to the characters in the game, the Night City map, and customization options. Elsewhere, however, I’ve seen footage of entire missions in clips up to 20 minutes long at a time. It’s hard to say how important these missions could be, but you can be relatively sure that there will be a reasonable amount of information (and spoilers) in these videos.
Developer CD Projekt Red asked the players who receive the game early so as not to release or reveal any information about the game until the December 9 embargo. The studio says it will try to remove the leaked information, but that appears to apply primarily to video content, with screenshots and text posted to Twitter or forums like Reddit will likely be much more difficult to remove. If you’re hoping to go completely spoiler-free, it might be worth using that mute feature generously enough for next week.
If you’re planning a Twitter hiatus, CDPRs Cyberpunk launches a Twitter party could act as your triumphant return.
