If you start Cyberpunk 2077 on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you will be able to bring your save with you on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S, respectively. The Cyberpunk 2077 Projekt Red Developer CD detailed the steps necessary to ensure that your saves will transfer with you to your next-gen console, and they vary slightly between PS5 and Xbox Series X / S.

As long as you’re using the same PlayStation account, you’ll be able to pick up your PS5 game save right where you left it on PS4.

There are three different options for transferring your backups, and they are as follows;

  1. Log into your PlayStation Plus account and download your saves
  2. Transfer your data via LAN cable or wireless connection (WiFi)
  3. Use a compatible storage device to copy and transfer your saves to the same PSN account on PlayStation 5.

Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One-Xbox Series X / S Cross-Backup

It’s a little easier on the Xbox side of things with cross-save, because Smart Delivery “lets you keep playing the game on Xbox Series X / S where you left off on Xbox One.”

As long as you are connected to the internet so that your recorded data can be uploaded to the cloud, your backup will transfer seamlessly and be ready when you start Cyberpunk 2077 on your new, next-gen system.

If you need another option, you can also “connect your Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S to the same network and use the system’s network transfer option.”

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia on December 10, 2020. It will also be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X / S at launch, but the next, free, “more robust” -gen versions will not be released. not ready before 2021.
