Cyberpunk 2077 Speed Glitch lets you run faster than cars can load

Not all the problems Cyberpunk 2077 are as revolutionary as player butts or indescribable hanging and collapsed objects. Some can be useful – especially for speedrunners.

The problem in question is modifying V with Maneuvering System, a cyberware that allows the player to perform an in-flight dodge. (Find said cyberware in the Arroyo sub-district of Santo Domingo.) As Redditor Strikielol (via Eurogamer) discovered, it also allows players to dash into the air. When an in-flight instrument panel is properly timed, it results in super-speed V.

The trick is to hit the dash just before V lands; it basically confuses the game by merging both the scoreboard and the jump forward, and with it V creates momentum and speed far beyond what the developers at CD Projekt Red intended. We know this because, zooming in on the highway, the player goes faster than it takes for the cars to charge. Watch them come in and out:

Other players have found ways to increase earnings with mods around the world, like Reinforced Tendons (available at the ripperdoc in Watson, Little China), which adds a double jump to the player’s repertoire.

What’s the point? Well, it should be obvious, but this sort of thing is generally useful for speedrunners, especially in large-scale role-playing games. There is a bug inside Fallout 3 which also confuses and enjoys the game, giving the player a huge boost in walking and running speed; this has been a pillar of Fall 3‘s any% run, helping a runner cross the 15 minute completion mark five years ago. (Current world record holder LMW also used the “crippled speed” trick to set his time of 2:24 on December 17.)

Cyberpunk 2077Any% mark is significantly longer – 3:03:50, set by ColdCypher on December 31. Of course, the game didn’t launch until December 10th. barrier in no time.
